Vinusha Shalani is a bright young girl living with her parents in the Monaragala District of Sri Lanka, an area known for its dry climate and farming-dependent communities surrounded by open landscapes. She is currently attending primary school, located 2 kilometers from her home. Every day, Vinusha walks to school with her mother, who supports her education despite the many challenges they face. At home, Vinusha helps her mother with simple household tasks and enjoys playing with her toys during her free time. Her father works full-time as a farmer, but with an annual income of just $280, the family struggles to cover even their most basic needs. Her mother, a housewife, manages their modest home, which is incomplete with brick walls, a cement floor, and a roof made of asbestos sheets. They access water from a shared well and have both toilet and electricity facilities. However, they often cannot afford nutritious meals or feed their child three times a day. A sponsorship would greatly ease their burden, offering hope, stability, and a better future through continued education and daily support.
