Paulo is a young Brazilian boy who lives with his father, Lucivando, in a slum area on the outskirts of a city located in the state of Ceara. Their simple home, which is rented, has brick walls, rough cement flooring and a clay-tiled roof. It has a tiny bathroom. Running water and electricity are available. The parents have separated and the mother lives in another area. Lucivando is unemployed at this time and takes some odd jobs when available; his low income, however, is far from enough to meet basic needs. Paulo is playful and polite. He helps his dad mostly by taking the garbage out and filling the bottles with water. He likes playing soccer along with his friends. He has a dog he is fond of. Paulo attends a local public elementary school and likes physical education. His big dream is to become a professional soccer player when he grows up. The family is needy and through your support Paulo and his family have the opportunity to participate in important projects in the areas of health, recreation and education.
