In a heartwarming display of community spirit, Eye of the child together with Renee Jones Empowerement centre team took to the streets yesterday to distribute free food to vulnerable individuals including the homeless, and those struggling to make ends meet.
The street distribution, held in Lilongwe where volunteers from Eye of the Child hand out warm meals and soft drinks to those in need. The event was part of the organization's ongoing efforts to provide support to marginalized and raising awareness on human trafficking in Malawi.
"We believe that everyone deserves access to information of human trafficking, nutritious food and dignity, our street distribution program allows us to reach those who may be falling through the cracks, providing them with a sense of hope and belonging". Said the public relations officer but also the program's Acting coordinator, Asiyatu James.
One beneficiary, Mercy a homeless individual who has been struggling to find stable housing, expressed his gratitude for the support. "This food distribution is a blessing. It's not just about the food, it's about knowing that someone cares. Eye of the child has given me hope and reminded me that I'm not invisible." He said.
